Loofah Seeds
Ever wanted to grow your own loofahs? Love using loofahs as natural scrubbers? Now you can grow your own!
Our packet has a minimum of 10 loofah seeds. Seeds can be started indoors or direct sow after danger of frost. Loofah plants grow best using a trellis system and become very heavy. Seeds needs to be planted about an inch deep and about 6 feet apart. One plant has TONS of growth (meaning massive leaves, vines, and multiple fruits! They need full sun and well draining soil.
Loofahs are edible. I personally have not harvested loofah’s for consuming, but I have read they are best when roughly 4-6 inches. I do not have any additional information about this.
As for using loofah as sponges, leave them hang until before the first frost, unless they are dying on the vine, then pick. Once they sound hollow, you can peel the skin off. Rinse the loofah under running water multiple times getting any excess goop out, as well as seeds. Hang to dry. Once dry, they’re ready to use!
Packet includes 10 seeds.
